Friday's Found - California Classic

I know, this isn't a photograph, but still, I found it, and I love it. Hope you do too.

Happy weekend...!

(Each Friday I'll share a found photograph with you, in hopes of further celebrating how photography can enrich our lives. Whenever I visit thrift stores or antique shops, I really enjoy looking through bins and boxes of photographs and paper ephemera. Found photographs have an air of mystery about them, and whether they incite laughter, admiration, or a gentle heartache, they spark a sense of curiosity and wonder that makes me feel in-the-moment alive and part of a common humanity. And I like that.)

A Most Stylish Way to Develop Film.

I recently came across a batch of these vintage Film Processing envelopes, and they stopped me in my tracks. "So. Super. Cute." were likely the exact words uttered.

Soon to find its way into a simple black frame, I hope this film envelope lives a long, happy life on my studio walls. One for Me, two for You... now available at ABLE + BAKER.

Mother's Day Hangover

Good morning, I hope you enjoyed a fantastic Mother's Day. Me? I'm recovering from a wonderful whirlwind-of-a-weekend with my family.

I intended to share these images with you yesterday, but lost track of time somewhere in between making this super tasty dessert, chasing nephews around the yard, coordinating a BBQ feast with my brother, and helping my other brother's adorable family move into their new home. It was quite a weekend.

I love so much about these images. They're from the Owner's Manual that came with my parent's first refrigerator, in their first home together. I love to remember that my parents were once newlyweds, a little family of two, like Me and Josh. When they brought this refrigerator home, they knew nothing of the thousands of happy moments they would share with their children and grandchildren.

Happy day-after Mother's Day Mom. You're a star.

1. Ad via a 1952 Better Homes magazine I found in our long tucked-away box of magazines.
Makes me smile.

2. Josh's Four Square Record Frame and LP Room Divider featured today on Daily Candy, along with some other pieces of "awesome music merch." Woohoo!

3. Happy Tuesday eve, hope you had a super day.

My Love and Fury

Hello everyone, how was your weekend?
Thanks so much for the birthday wishes.
My weekend was a pleasurable mix of laughter and leisure, and I'm quite the happy girl.

Sunday, Josh and I celebrated my birthday with a trip to the Alameda Flea Market. I fell in love with this piece of art, which once graced the walls of a car dealership in Minnesota.

I think it's perfection...

Can you blame me?
Just look at these faces...

This little lovely is called a Plymouth Fury

and I hope to have one of my very own someday.
We might even throw a couple of kiddies in the back and take a family portrait.
Then I'll hang them side by side, and smile, smile, smile...

Love at first sight.

This past weekend Josh and I celebrated ten years of knowing each other.

(nine years of friendship + one year as husband and wife = ten years already?)
Labor Day Weekend is not our wedding anniversary, it's just our own special marker of when the story began...

Sunday was just as the name implies, glorious and sunny. We ventured out to the Alameda Flea Market, an amazing source for everything vintage. The Market is located on the waterfront, so while you stroll through 800 tables of vintage treasures, you can also gaze starry-eyed at the San Francisco skyline.

I found many things that I loved, loved, loved, but when I saw this, I knew we were simply meant to be...

Thrills, fun, and the truest of views...
each an element to a happy little story that is still being written.

Mister and Misses

If you've visited my home, you know that while there may be a shortage of, well nothing really, there's definitely no shortage of vintage toys. My talented husband has even designed and built beautiful cabinets to showcase our little gems. Cars, trucks, trains, we love them all.

Lately I've been photographing these toys - I started the series a couple of years ago, got distracted, and shelved the idea. Spring is here, and I want to play, so the toys are back in action.

To start off the series I give you "Mister and Misses" now available in my Etsy store. I found these two waiting patiently in a quaint little antique shop in Paris. They've been with me for a couple of years and are quite photogenic, don't you think?

The photographs are printed on a Metallic paper, which really brings out their vintage charm. Stay tuned as the series unfolds, it's sure to be a good time...

The Two Pinkies

Check out "The Two Pinkies" and other Spring-themed photos at the Poppytalk Handmade "Green Pop!" Marketplace.

My Green Pop! array contains everything from roadside signs, to flowers, toys, and of course flamingos. I can find Springtime inspiration in so many places!

I plan to add new photographs over the weekend, so remember to re-visit Poppytalk early next week...

Getting Noticed! 7x7 San Francisco

I was honored, and frankly a bit shocked, to see my own little Roadside Photographs

Here's the juice:
It's easy to get swallowed up into the fantastic source that is Etsy; with so many shops and new items posted all the time, you can end up spending hours searching...until you find the gem you were looking for.
