The Bevelry HIlls Art Show

The Beverly Hills Art Show, Oct. 20 - 21.  This weekend, take a stroll through the historic Beverly Gardens park and check out the work of more than 250 artists (including me!) I'm debuting a selection of new work and will be exhibiting more than 40 framed photographs, and nearly 100 matted prints! (Things have been nice and busy in my studio.)

You'll find me at Booth #214, located on the corner across from the dining and beer garden (should be a fun show!) This event has been a Beverly Hills tradition for 40 years, and I'm thrilled to be a part!

(Snapshots of a few of the photographs, before I delivered them to the Gallery -- We are all so accustomed to seeing art digitally, I think sometimes that it's easy to lose sight of what pieces look beyond the computer screen, in a matte or frame... These matted prints are wrapped in plastic sleeves, so in these snapshots, the colors are not quite as vivid as they appear in person.)

Exhibtion + New Work at SFMOMA Artists Gallery

The week's off to a sunny start, and I have two bits of new to share... I've been invited to participate in a Bay Area exhibition curated by Carrie Lederer of Bedford Gallery, and Steve Pon of SFMOMA Artists Gallery.

20x30 prints of "Life in Lemon Yellow" and "Valley of the Moon Apartments" are on view through May 13, 2011. I attended the Opening Reception on Thursday, and really enjoyed the work of Kerri Lee Johnson, Tyler Bewley, Mary Bayard White, Michelle Nye, Terry Hoff, Jeannie O'Connor (to name just a few!) and encourage you to check out their work.

Also... "Life in Lemon Yellow" and "Palm Springs Imperial" are now available for rental or purchase at SFMOMA Artists Gallery in Fort Mason Center (San Francisco). The Gallery is in such a beautiful space with gorgeous views of the Golden Gate -- if you're in San Francisco you really must visit! Also, you might like their new blog, here.

Northerly, Southerly new new news...

I'm excited to announce that Local Collection, a fantastic art boutique in the Glendale Galleria, will now by carrying my work.
My first Southern California stockist!

I dropped off a colorful array of almost fifty prints this afternoon... matted, framed, even a few Instant Roadtrip Postcard Sets. Thanks to Local Collection for welcoming me, I'm thrilled to have this opportunity to show my work!

SFMOMA Artist's Gallery Warehouse Event

I am proud to be participating in this year's Warehouse Event, which kicked off last night and will run through Sunday, May 9. Each year the SFMOMA Artist's Gallery invites 300 Artists to participate, and let me share with you how it feels to be 1 of the 300... it's nice. really. very. nice.

Last week, I volunteered at the Gallery and it was so much fun. I helped check-in artwork, and got to peruse much of the work for sale. Truthfully, the amount of really cool artwork I saw was a bit overwhelming. Does it make any sense to think that the last day of the sale would be the best day to go, for the simple reason that there's less to choose from?

As if the array of artwork isn't enough, the Gallery itself is situated in Fort Mason Center, with a picturesque view of the water and Golden Gate Bridge.

All purchases directly benefit the Gallery and Artists. Not in San Francisco? You can view a selection of the work for sale by visiting the Gallery's Facebook page.

The artwork on the Event invite is by Paul Madonna, whose work you can also see for one more day at Hotel Biron (one of my favorite places to see and show art!) Go see, go see...

What's New? Four things, at least.

1. Studio. I'm excited to type the first (of many....!) posts from my new studio. We're still settling in, and I can hardly wait to share pictures and details. I will wait, though, because I think it'll be worth it.

2. Internet. Installed this afternoon. Hooray! That's why I can say hello to you now.

3. Scandinavian Blend. Brewed a pot of Bent on Coffee's Scandinavian Blend, and mmmm it's tasty. So many blends to choose from, but when I spotted the Scandinavian, I said 'that's for me.' I'm part Norwegian. Maybe that's why.

4. 12 new photographs at Artist X-Change Gallery, San Francisco. Now available, a cheerful new selection of matted prints. My photos are very friendly, and would love to meet you in person.

What's not new, but still worth mentioning?

Slate Gallery, Oakland

Hello, I thought I'd share some news....

I now have photographs available at Slate Gallery in Oakland! If you're in the area, please stop by and take a peek. You'll find matted prints, as well as a mini-exhibition of framed pieces.

The Gallery is located on Telegraph Ave. in North Oakland's charming Temescal district, not far from Bakesale Betty (fried chicken, so good...)

Slate is a sun-filled and friendly gallery, voted "Best New Art Gallery" in the East Bay. They've hosted some tasty exhibitions this year, including this one , and I'm honored to be there.

Thanks to everyone who came out to last night's reception at Hotel Biron. Tonight I'll be at Artist X-Change Retail Gallery in San Francisco, from 7-10 p.m. My photographs will be available through the end of October, so please drop by if you're in the neighborhood.

And... The Gallery will donate 10% of proceeds from tonight's sales to the United Nations World Food Programme, in connection with the disaster relief effort of providing assistance to the victims of the recent flood in the Philippines.

Showtime, San Francisco!

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I've been a very busy girl, and am excited to announce that I'll be exhibiting photographs in two San Francisco establishments this week!

Thursday, October 1, I'm premiering a solo exhibition at Hotel Biron, Wine Bar & Gallery. I hung the show yesterday, and I'm beyond excited about the way the photographs turned out!

This exhibition, titled "Air Conditioned Electric Heat," features 28 roadside photographs, including a new batch from my Las Vegas, New Mexico roadtrip this summer.

For this show, I had the inkling to depart from the traditional white-matte-black-frame approach, and opted instead for no-matte-white-frames. I searched high and low for the perfect white frame and could not find a single contender. Lucky me, my ever so gracious woodworking husband agreed to make me 40 white frames on short notice. The frames are absolutely beautiful, and I think they are a perfect choice for this Collection.

If you're in the Bay Area, I hope you can join the fun on Thursday evening.

Friday, October 2 (My Birthday!) I'll be exhibiting at Artist X-Change, a retail gallery space in San Francisco. I am one of many Bay Area Artists to be included in the October showing, and I'm thrilled to participate.
