Our little shop - Unique LA

We are just beginning to catch up from the wonderful whirlwind that was this weekend's Unique LA. Thought I'd share some photos of our little shop. If you ever have an opportunity to visit our new woodshop & showroom it'll pretty much look like this, only different.

Among the highlights of this year's Unique LA:

Josh's LP Room Divider sparked many colorful conversations...

Large prints of "Sunlight and Yellow" and "Pie Shop" in custom Able + Baker frames, and dozens of other photographs, found themselves a new home. This new photograph from Palm Springs was purchased by a darling pair of newlyweds who just recently got married in Palm Springs. Makes me happy.

We sold our entire stock of "Modern Library Storage Bins," which I hadn't even had a chance to introduce you to...! Josh will soon be busy in the wood shop making a new batch.

We had an array of Rocket Scientist, Organic Cotton, and Recycled Hemp pillows to keep things feeling cozy...

We introduced L.A. to the illustrations of Madalynn Priester, and her new "Sweet Tunes" print

and also to Carrie Goller's work from watercolor...
And guess what? L.A. seemed to love their work as much as we do.

We had fun sharing the new Able And Baker "4 Aces" Record Frame, and our new wood-ply custom picture frames (which aren't on our website yet...)

Perhaps more than anything, we enjoyed all of the people who visited our booth. We loved answering your questions and hearing your stories. Many people who purchased my photographs at last year's Unique LA dropped by to say 'hi' and to see our new work, which was such a fun surprise. Unique LA is the only art & design show that we have participated in, and I've got to say, it's probably a tough one to beat.

Oh, and the cherry on top? Well that's got to be the fact that I had the opportunity to meet the lovely Tina of The English Muse. She's an absolute delight!

I hope you're all having a nice week. If you're traveling along the internet today, you might enjoy checking out the wares of a few of our Unique LA neighbors:

Unique LA - Here's Hoping for another great day!

We had a tremendously great day yesterday at Unique LA and lucky for us, the fun continues today. If you're in the L.A. area I hope you'll check out the show. If you're not in the L.A. area, well, I wish you were!

I am so excited to share pictures of our booth with you this week. We learned a lot from our experience last year, and I think we really stepped-it-up to make a booth we're both so proud of.

So, just a quick Sunday hello... I hope you're enjoying a wonderful weekend! See you Monday.

(P.s. Did you notice that Unique L.A. included "Wonder, no.4" on the top left corner of the event's promotional flyer? Pretty cool.)

Diner Plates - It's A Wrap!

I spent the better part of this weekend wrapping up my Diner-Breakfast Sets in preparation for Unique LA. Creating dishes from my photographs has been such a fun, new experience, and I'm excited to share photos of the finished product with you... enjoy!!

Pretty fun right? We decided these plates are not only perfect for breakfast, they look deliciously cute with a warm slice of diner-style apple pie on top!

A limited quantity of 4 Plate Sets are still available at Able + Baker, $60 each.
Thanks everyone!

P.s. Thanks Mom, for helping me with this fun project. You're the best.

It's all in a day of living

Each day offers beauty, when we remember to notice.

Occasionally we even remember to notice, twice.

(Top photo by Josh. He remembers to notice things too, which is only 1 of the reasons I love him...)

The Diner-Breakfast Plates are here!

I am so excited to finally share this project with you! Just in time for the gift giving season, I've created a special edition of Diner Breakfast Plates (you know how I love my diner breakfasts....)

Each Set contains four 6.5" Melamine plates, dishwasher safe, and best of all... Made in the USA

There are only 20 Sets in the Edition, so you gotta get 'em while you can get 'em. Each set is signed and numbered, and packaged cute for gift-giving (even if they're a gift for yourself, they should arrive looking extra special, don't you think?)

Scenes from a Train Window

Thanksgiving morning, 2002, Josh and I boarded a train in California, en route to Chicago. The trip would take a couple of days, and we were terrificly excited. When we boarded the train it was nearly empty, so they offered us a Sleeper Car at a fantastic discount. We jumped at the opportunity to have a cabin of our very own. I remember that I baked two batches of cookies, Molasses and Chocolate Chip, so we'd be sure to have a tasty Thanksgiving Day dessert. As it turns out, when you get a Sleeper Car, you also get three hot meals per day in the Dining Car, including dessert. Oh well, no such thing as too many cookies right?! We were treated to a Thanksgiving feast complete with turkey and mashed potatoes, served on their finest railroad china. It was so much fun to share this special meal with complete strangers. As west met east, the scenery transformed from sunny to snowy. We spent hours gazing out the Observation Car windows, and swapping stories with fellow travel-by-train adventurers. One of my favorite Thanksgivings ever...

Chicago!

Happy Monday, I hope you had a wonderful holiday...
