Into the New

Recently I heard some very bad news. I lost my job. Laid-off like so many others.

Recently I heard some very good news. I lost my job. Laid-off like so many others.

I've been given an opportunity to explore the possibilities, and focus on what I really love. This is my story and I'm sticking to it. If I forget, please remind me...

I shot this photograph at my niece's high school graduation last week. I thought it funny to look at those bright, smiling faces, and see myself staring back. "You just got laid-off," I thought, "shouldn't you be worrying about everything?"

In the instant I saw these birds overhead, flying so fast I almost missed them, I found myself in exactly the right place. I'm part of a group of bright, smiling faces, with a simple excitement to live the New.

  1. Losing your job is never fun, but hopefully it will be something you can look back at and be thankful it happened...I was lucky enough to have that happen when I was laid off a few years ago - and I don't have any rock star photography (or anything!) skills!

Jen, I just hung your lovely photos in my room last night and they just inspire me to no end. I lost my job in October and worried for five months I wouldn't find another. But wouldn't you know losing it was a blessing in disguise. I finally have a job I love in the field I've always wanted to be. Less money...yes. But finally on the right career track. I hope the same for you.
