In a matter of moments, Josh and I will embark on another adventure along the California coastline (seems the birds weren't enough to scare us off!) I wish we were traveling in Airstream style, but alas, our old white truck will have to do.

The Birds

Last weekend we drove to Bodega, the tiny Northern California town where Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds was filmed.

We visited the historic schoolhouse seen in the movie, and had a quiet walk down the path where the children in the movie ran screaming. Such fun.

We drove further along the winding road, to the beach.
And then suddenly, we were surrounded....

Honestly, I've never seen so many birds. We celebrated our survival by returning home and watching the film. Wouldn't you?!
I'm sure happy I didn't end up like this.

I've explored the depths of Etsy this week, in search of a perfect birthday gift for Josh. Most people refer to Josh's birthday as "Valentine's Day," but we refer to Valentine's Day as "Josh's birthday." We save the love notes and flowers for any of the year's other 364 special days. Though it wasn't easy, I resisted the urge to buy him everything that made my heart skip a beat. Here are a couple of treasures still waiting to be snapped up!

Hello and welcome to Monday! I thought I'd kick off the week with some classic roadside Americana.

When I photographed this sign, I remember feeling surprised to find a hot dog on the opposite side of "Welcome." I thought for sure I'd find another welcome, or possibly a goodbye, but a hot dog? Totally unexpected.
